Heavyweight Trajectory Hinges on Dual Fixtures
WBO heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois has outlined a direct path toward an all-British clash against Tyson Fury, provided both fighters execute victories in their upcoming schedules.
The heavyweight landscape currently hinges on two distinct dates. Dubois enters the ring on October 17 for a contractual rematch against Fabio Wardley. Seven weeks later, on December 11, Fury is scheduled to meet long-time rival Anthony Joshua. With promoter Frank Warren representing both Dubois and Fury, the organizational framework for a subsequent headliner is already positioned if both men prevail.
The Immediate Obstacle: Calibrating the Wardley Rematch
Before any unification or blockbuster matchmaking can materialize, Dubois must resolve his series with Wardley. Their initial encounter was defined by severe early volatility: Dubois absorbed two knockdowns before adjusting his trajectory and delivering the sustained kinetic output required to secure a stoppage victory.

Dubois indicated that his tactical aim for October 17 is higher efficiency and early spatial control to prevent repeat ring-floor deficits.
“We're just going to do even better than the first time. A bit quicker, a bit more clinical,” Dubois stated to Sky Sports News.
Dubois emphasized that looking past Wardley would compromise the entire calendar. “I'm not looking past Fabio at all. One fight at a time. I'm just dedicating myself 100 percent to this fight,” he added.
Promotional Alignment and What Follows
Dubois already holds a stoppage victory over Joshua, making a prospective collision with Fury the most commercially viable domestic summit remaining in the division. Dubois noted that a meeting with Fury would carry the same structural magnitude as his previous bout against Joshua.
Upcoming Heavyweight Schedule:
- October 17: Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley 2 (WBO Heavyweight Title)
- December 11: Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
If Dubois secures a second consecutive win over Wardley and Fury bypasses Joshua, contractual discussions between both camps are expected to begin immediately for the first half of 2026.
