Dillian Whyte has revealed he suffered a fractured foot in training that broke again in the dressing room before his first-round loss to Moses Itauma. Following recovery, Whyte and his management have verbally agreed in principle to face Johnny Fisher in late 2025.

Fracture in Camp, Re-Injury in the Dressing Room

Former two-time WBC interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte has revealed that a severe structural failure compromised his base prior to his first-round stoppage defeat against Moses Itauma last August in Saudi Arabia. Whyte disclosed that he sustained a clean fracture to his foot during sparring in training camp, followed by a complete re-fracture while warming up on fight night.

Whyte described the initial incident occurring during footwork drills under pressure: "I was running and I felt it, and then I went to spar and I was sparring big, agile guys and someone was pressing me, I stepped back the wrong way and then it just fractured clean."

Despite medical intervention hours before ring walk, Whyte rejected advice to withdraw:

"I started warming up, jumped a little bit of rope, and then reinjured the foot. Completely fractured it again. We had to call the doctor who was with me to examine it. He advised me not to fight and I said 'no'. There's no way I'm going to come all the way to Saudi and not fight last minute."

The resulting kinetic deficit severely restricted Whyte’s lateral movement, leaving his midline stationary. Itauma capitalized immediately, unloading high-velocity combinations along the ropes until the contest was halted within the opening three minutes.

Targeting Late-Year Return Against Johnny Fisher

Whyte, who refrained from disclosing the injury immediately after the stoppage to avoid diminishing Itauma's victory, is now mapping his return. The primary target is heavyweight contender Johnny Fisher, fresh off a majority decision victory over Michael Pirotton at London’s Copper Box Arena.

Whyte evaluated Fisher’s output and defensive gaps from ringside, noting a target date in late autumn:

  • Target window: November or December 2025.
  • Style matchup: Fisher’s high-volume, forward-pressing offense against Whyte’s counter-punching and interior leverage.
  • Contractual status: Whyte's manager, Michael Ofo, confirmed a handshake agreement in principle with Fisher's manager, Adam Morallee.

"The fight was agreed in principle following Fisher's win on Saturday night with a handshake between me and Fisher's manager Adam Morallee," Ofo confirmed. Should final promotional terms align, the all-British heavyweight clash will anchor a major domestic card before the close of the calendar year.
