PBA Resumes Action After Extended International Break
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) returns to action following a hiatus that began on August 14. The pause accommodated the fourth FIBA World Cup Asia qualifying window as well as the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The Governors' Cup resumes with a doubleheader at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, featuring NLEX against guest team Macau in the opening fixture, followed by Terrafirma facing TNT in the evening matchup.
Revised Governors' Cup Schedule and Playoff Format
The league has outlined a structured path to conclude the season while balancing international basketball obligations. The elimination phase is scheduled to conclude on October 21, leading directly into the postseason tournament:
- Quarterfinals: October 25 to November 8 (Best-of-five series)
- FIBA Qualifying Window Break: November 9 to December 3
- Semifinals: December 4 to December 13 (Best-of-five series)
- Finals: December 16 to December 30 (Best-of-seven series)
While the recurring international breaks create scheduling challenges and test team momentum, they also provide injured players crucial recovery time and offer franchises an opportunity to recalibrate their rosters for the playoff push.

Roster Overhauls and New Import Signings
Multiple franchises have utilized the tournament pause to make critical adjustments to their personnel, particularly among foreign reinforcements:
- TNT: Unveils 6-foot-5 1/2 import Nick Hornsby, replacing Rhalir Hollis-Jefferson. Veteran guard Jayson Castro makes his return to the lineup, alongside newcomer Jeo Ambohot, while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson remains in reserve.
- Barangay Ginebra: Brings in 6-foot-5 3/8 forward Jordan Murphy to replace Riley Grigsby.
- Phoenix: Replaces BJ Johnson with 6-foot-4 3/4 reinforcement Marcellus Earlington.
- NLEX: Activates 6-foot-4 1/4 guard Deonte Burton in place of Dequan Jones.
- Macau: Enlists 6-foot-3 Oscar Lopez in place of De’Vondre Perry.
In additional roster movement, Titan has added veteran guard RR Garcia and rookie RJ Deles, an undrafted player out of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde from 2021.
Macau's Roster Reshuffle and Elimination Outlook
Guest team Macau enters the resumption facing substantial changes to its core lineup. Alongside the departure of Perry, the team is without key contributors Jenning Leung, Damian Chongqui, and Ray Cao. To fill the void, head coach Marcus Elliott has introduced Oscar Lopez, Chen Li Hsin, and Chong Pong Lao.
Lopez, 29, brings international experience after competing with the Cambodian national team during the 2023 Southeast Asian Games, where he posted averages of 8.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across five games. The former DePaul University and Central Michigan University player has also logged professional experience in Mexico and Taiwan. He is joined by Chen, 26, and 6-foot-3 forward Chong Pong Lao, both of whom previously saw action for Macau in the Commissioner's Cup.
Holding a 2-6 record, Macau faces a demanding final stretch in the Governors' Cup eliminations, with remaining fixtures against NLEX, Terrafirma, and Converge determining their postseason viability.
